{"id":911,"date":"2014-06-18T16:15:27","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T15:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.ingenie.com\/young-drivers-guide\/?p=911"},"modified":"2014-06-18T16:15:27","modified_gmt":"2014-06-18T15:15:27","slug":"how-to-replace-your-driving-licence-if-it-is-lost-or-stolen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ingenie.com\/young-drivers-guide\/how-to-replace-your-driving-licence-if-it-is-lost-or-stolen","title":{"rendered":"How to replace your driving licence if it is lost or stolen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You must have your driving licence to hand at all times, so if your licence is lost or stolen you need to replace it as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Applying online<\/h2>\n<p class=\"square-sticker centered\">If your driving licence is stolen you must report it to the police immediately.<\/p>\n<p>You can apply for a replacement licence online - just follow the steps on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/change-address-driving-licence\" title=\"Change your driving licence address online\" target=\"_blank\">GOV.UK website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\n<p>Your replacement photocard driving licence should arrive within a week.<\/p>\n\n<h3>To apply online you'll need:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n    <li>To be a resident of Great Britain<\/li>\n    <li>To not be disqualified from driving for any reason<\/li>\n\t<li>A debit or credit card to pay the \u00a320 fee<\/li>\n\t<li>A valid UK passport or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/id-for-driving-licence\" title=\"Apply for a replacement driving licence online: other ID\" target=\"_blank\">other form of ID<\/a><\/li>\n\t<li>Previous addresses for the last 3 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Wherever possible, the DVLA will use an electronic copy of your passport photo, as long as you have a UK passport issued in the last 5 years. They will let you know if this isn't possible and ask you to send in a photo.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Applying by phone<\/h2>\n\n<p>You can apply by phone as long as none of your details have changed. You can\u2019t apply this way if your licence is damaged, or if it expires in less than 56 days (or 90 days if it\u2019s expiring for medical reasons).<\/p>\n\n<h3>Call the DVLA on:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>0300 790 6801<\/strong>\n<br\/>Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm\n<br\/>Saturday, 8am to 2pm<\/p>\n\n<h2>Applying by post:<\/h2>\n\n<p>To apply by post you\u2019ll need to complete form <strong>D1 Application for a driving licence<\/strong>, available from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/dvlaforms\" title=\"Order forms online from the DVLA\" target=\"_blank\">DVLA form ordering service<\/a> or most Post Offices.<\/p>\n\n<h3>You\u2019ll then need to:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n   <li>Send your application to the address on the form along with the correct fee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your name has changed you\u2019ll also need to send original documents confirming this.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"quote centered\"><strong>If you find your old driving licence later, you must send it back to the DVLA explaining what has happened<\/strong><\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You must have your driving licence to hand at all times, so if your licence is lost or stolen you need to replace it as quickly as possible.
